Metadate Assistant (x2) - BBC Sounds



BBC Sounds is looking for 2 x metadata assistants to work with the Metadata and Publishing Team. Please note this is not a production role.

 

This will initially be offered as a 6-week freelance contract to work 3 days a week but with the possibility for extension depending on team requirements.

 

Start date dependent on the successful candidate, but ideally would like applicants who can start by early March.

 

These are entry-level roles suitable for candidates with limited professional experience. The pay will be in the region of £100 to £110 per day.

 

Candidates should be able to commute to BBC offices in either London W1 or Salford with an expectation that you would be able to be in the office at least one day per week.

 

Responsibilities will include: 

  • tagging BBC content (primarily audio) with descriptive metadata

  • updating packshot images on music playlists

  • checking and updating artist images

  • checking and publishing transcripts

  • updating metadata as needed including asset availability

  • routine audio publishing

  • triaging and escalating queries from support inboxes

 

Full training will be provided.

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Some demonstrated understanding of metadata

  • Familiarity with core metadata fields and describing and classifying content through metadata

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to process data accurately

  • Aptitude for learning new tools and systems

  • Knowledge of and passion for audio
